Winnetonka High star running back/safety Marquise Doherty announced his top-5 list of schools via twitter on Tuesday. The list included: Iowa, Kansas State, Louisville, Oregon and Missouri.
“Mizzou goes all the way back to my sophomore year,” Doherty said of the Mizzou. “They were the first to offer me. I had worked my whole life for that.”
“Now that they are in the SEC, they played for the SEC Championship last year,. They were maybe a few plays away from the national championship. Just to be a part of that and represent for your home state, play with guys like Drew Lock and Ryan Williams, that would be really cool. I have a lot of ties to Mizzou, and it’s a special place for me and my family.”
Marquise played basketball for me at Antioch in 8th grade. What people need to know is that as great an athlete as he is, he is an even better person. An absolute joy to coach. A wonderful young man. So proud of what he has done and will continue to do!
