Drew Brees took to Instagram this morning to deliver an apology to the masses after his recent comments on a Yahoo Finance show. During that show, host Daniel Roberts, asked Drew about his thoughts on players possibly kneeling again when the season starts. Drew proceeded to talk about how he will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America or the country. He talked about what the flag means to him with his grandfathers having fought for this country, but completed missed the fact that not everyone has so same good feelings about that flag. Almost 4 years later from Colin Kaepernick first kneeling to bring awareness to social injustice and police brutality, and Drew still hasn’t taken the time to understand and listen. For some, that flag reminds them about the injustices they face, how we are still so far from equality, and how we all need to come together to work toward one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Maybe now, with Drew’s own teammates calling him out and talking to him, along with the rest of the NFL and society, he will start to open his eyes, open his ears, open his mind, and most importantly, open his heart to the plight of the black community. I disagree he should not have to apologize. A white christian male voices an opinion (a correct one as well) and he’s being attacked. How racist against white Christians is that! geeesh!
Mr. Gronniger, you profess to know what’s in Mr. Brees’s heart? “. . . he will start to open his eyes, open his ears, open his mind, and most importantly, open his heart to the plight of the black community.” I don’t think you have that kind of power. Only a higher power knows that.
