Kansas City Chiefs 2018 2nd round pick out of Ole Miss, Breeland Speaks, was out of place as a linebacker in Bob Suttonโ€™s 3-4 defense. The Kansas City Chiefs are transitioning to a 4-3 in 2019 under new defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo where Breeland will move back to the defensive line. It should be a more comfortable and natural fit for Breeland who played all along the defensive line during his time at Ole Miss. We had the chance to catch up with Breelandโ€™s former coach Matt Luke and teammate Mohamed Sanogo to ask them about his move back to the defensive line.

Ole Miss Head Coach Matt Luke

At SEC media day, Ole Miss Head Coach Matt Luke told GASN Sports, โ€œBreeland was a linebacker in high school, but the thing that made him unique was his versatility. We played him at a lot of different positions, 3-technique and defensive end, but I do think heโ€™ll be more comfortable there.โ€ Matt went on to praise Breeland for being the reason he was sitting there at SEC media day as Head Coach of Ole Miss. However, Matt wasnโ€™t the only one who had thoughts about Breeland as his former teammate, Mohamed Sanogo, had glowing remarks to share with us as well.

Ole Miss LB Mohamed Sanogo

Ole Miss LB Mohamed Sanogo told GASN Sports, โ€œBreeland Speaks is a great guy. Heโ€™s goofy, but thatโ€™s just his personality. Heโ€™s real serious when it comes to playing the game and competing to win.โ€ Mohamed went on to talk about how much of mentor Breeland was to him as a frustrated freshman.
