Chiefs 2nd round pick Mecole Hardman will enter the 2019 season with lofty expectations to excel in Andy Reid’s offense. Hardman racked up 543 yards and 7 touchdowns as a junior and is also expected to be a major factor on special teams in KC.

Tuesday, representatives from the University of Georgia met with media to discuss the upcoming season at SEC Media Days in Birmingham, AL. During the event, two of Hardman’s former Bulldog teammates praised the Chiefs decision to draft Hardman. His former quarterback, former SEC Freshman of the Year Jake Fromm, was quick to offer encouraging words.

They’re getting an explosive player.” Fromm told GASN Sports. “He’s a great guy and a great teammate.”

Fromm would not be the only former teammate of Mecole’s to chime in on his potential. Standout defensive back J.R. Reed certainly got his fill of going up against Hardman in practice.

Speed, speed, speed, Mecole’s just a fast guy. He’s a speed demon.” Reed exclaimed with a grin on his face.

Undoubtedly, Mecole Hardman will have every chance to succeed in an Andy Reid coached offense with NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes at the helm. While his college numbers were not exactly gaudy, his speed and versatility could prove to be a valuable weapon to an offense that continues to evolve and innovate.

With questions surrounding star receiver Tyreek Hill and a potential suspension looming, Hardman could see himself thrown into the mix sooner rather than later. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid warned Hardman the day they drafted him that they plan on “wearing him out.”
