The Chris Jones contract saga has taken over most Chiefs offseason banter. The two-time Super Bowl champion defensive tackle is said to want close to $30 million dollars in a contract extension while the Chiefs appear to be unwilling to go that high. Jones has set out the entire offseason training program but GM Brett Veach did provide a positive update on Wednesday.
Veach said to reporters on Wednesday that the last two days there has been more communication and that “hopefully” he’s in the lineup against the Lions next Thursday and “ready to go.” This report is a breath of fresh air following Andy Reid’s comments last week where he basically said there had been no communication with Jones.
