While many in the national media point to Tyreek Hill’s absence as a reason the Chiefs offense may take a step back, former NFL player and current ESPN analyst Robert Griffin III begs to differ.
Griffin took to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon to talk about the depth that the Chiefs now possess after signing Juju Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdez-Scantling in the offseason.
Griffin brings up a great point in that he believes that it will be the group’s chemistry with Patrick Mahomes and not overall talent that could be key this season. While Griffin has not played in the NFL since 2020 (with the Ravens), his contract with ESPN allows him to sign with a team should the opportunity arise.
The only returning starter for the Chiefs heading into the 2022 season is fourth-year player Mecole Hardman. Hardman is in a contract year and is unlikely to be on the roster next season unless he emerges as a more serious target in the offense.
