Brady briefly retired following the 2021 NFL season but decided to return to the Buccaneers a month later. Brady originally signed a two-year deal with the Buccaneers worth $50 million. So, he is in the last year of his original contract in 2021, but he signed an additional one-year extension to add $25 million more to the deal.
