On Tuesday, it was announced that Chiefs Pro Bowl defensive tackle Chris Jones has been placed in COVID protocol and won’t practice. Receiver Josh Gordon is also in COVID protocol and did not practice Tuesday as well.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid won’t rule Jones out for Thursday’s game against the Chargers but losing Jones would be detrimental to the Chiefs bid at winning six straight AFC West titles.

If Jones has two negative tests 24 hours apart he will be able to play Thursday night. The NFL set a single-day record for positive COVID tests on Monday with 36 and that was clearly the tip of the iceberg.
