The football world mourned the loss of Mike Leach on Tuesday, who passed way following what was described as a “personal medical issue.” The beloved coach died Monday night and the condolences came raining in from former colleagues and players. While Patrick Mahomes didn’t play for Leach at Texas Tech (Leach coached there from 2000-2009), the Red Raider family certainly runs deep.
Mahomes played for coach Kliff Kingsbury at Texas Tech from 2014-2017 and Tweeted his condolences to Leach’s family. Leach was the current coach of the Mississippi State Bulldogs, a school he had been coaching at since 2020.
