Patrick Mahomes attended Texas Tech from 2014-2016 where off the field he was named an Academic All-American 2nd Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America. He played football under Kliff Kingsbury where he backed up Davis Webb his freshman season. That is, until an injury to Webb inserted Mahomes into the starting lineup for the final 3 games of the year. In Mahomes’ junior season he won the Sammy Baugh Trophy given annually to the nation’s top passer. He also set NCAA records:

  • Single-game yards passing: 734 (t-1st) (vs. OU October 22, 2016)
  • Single-game Yards total offense: 819 (1st) (vs. OU October 22, 2016)
