Thursday Mizzou head coach Eli Drinkwitz met with reporters in Birmingham as part of SEC Media Days 2021. Of the topics discussed, many were anticipating Drinkwitz’s comments on the idea that Texas and OU have reached out about possibly joining the SEC.
“I’ve been trying to tell people everybody wants to play in the SEC, man. If you can attract a couple of really good schools to come play, that’s great. I immediately called my athletic director in Jim and told him that if the commissioner changes and adds two games to our schedule, I think we all understand that Mark Womack is going to put both Texas and OU on Mizzou’s schedule moving forward. So we’re ready for any challenge that is thrown at us.”

Missouri left the Big 12 for the SEC back in 2011 and enters its 10 season in the league with an overall record of 63-49 and has won the SEC East on two occasions (’13 and ’14).
Drinkwitz went on to discuss the importance of Tiger fans engaging in the program while things continue to build. Mizzou went 5-5 last season against an all-SEC schedule and upset defending national champions LSU back in October.
