Lost in the craziness of the Chiefs’ dramatic 30-29 win over the Las Vegas Raiders was a key injury suffered by DE Tershawn Wharton in the first half. Wharton left the game and was immediately ruled out to return and now it appears that injury is quite significant.

Wharton, who had become an incumbent on the Chiefs defensive end rotation, tore his ACL according to various reports which will put him out for the season.

The Chiefs also were victimized by Frank Clark leaving the game with an “illness” leaving rookie George Karlaftis and veteran Carlos Dunlap to handle duties on the edges. Wharton is entering his third NFL season after being undrafted out of Missouri-Rolla.
