Wrestling fans used to the monopoly that has been the WWE for almost two decades now finally have a tasteful alternative. The AEW (All Elite Wrestling) has been turning heads since its pay-per-view debut last July and fans are taking notice.

With a mixture of fresh and easily-recognizable faces from the past, AEW has done its part to capture wrestling fans that have grown tired of the stale WWE product. It’s flagship show, “Dynamite,” debuted on TNT last October to a live audience of over 14,000 people in Washington D.C. with another 1.5 million watching at home. While the company is gaining ground, it still has a long way to go to compete regularly with the WWE.

When asked about the “war” between the two promotions, AEW champion Chris Jericho pointed the finger at WWE, but ultimately feels like AEW is in competition with itself.

“[WWE] started this,” Jericho said. “Everything that they’ve done has been reactionary to us. We’re not in a war with anybody besides ourselves … all that matters is our show.”They kinda started this war, and the very first night they got destroyed. Big deal, it’s our first debut, but they have to come back and say, ‘It’s a marathon and not a one-night sprint.’ Who’s ever said it’s a one-night sprint? It’s not a war for us. Now, we’re placed in one, and we’re gonna kick ass.”

AEW Invades Kansas City
