The Kansas City Chiefs drafted defensive speed in the 2nd and 4th rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft when they selected Mississippi State LB Willie Gay Jr. and Louisiana Tech DB L’Jarius Sneed. The Chiefs struggled in overall defensive speed and and have just infused that side of the ball with not only a sideline to sideline linebacker, but a defensive back who can turn on the afterburners with the best of them. The Raiders and Broncos specifically have added a lot of offensive weapons with speed in this draft which makes these picks all the more important. Willie Gay Jr. and L’Jarius Sneed will need time to develop their overall games, but in the meantime they can get on the field and makeup for what they don’t know by using their speed to see ball, get ball. Willie Gay Jr. is an absolute missle when you watch him on the field; the likes of which we haven’t seen since the glory days of Derrick Johnson knifing into the backfield or blowing up a swing pass in the flat.
