Following a lengthy stay on the free agent market, safety Tyrann Mathieu signed a 3-year deal worth $33 million dollars with his hometown Saints. For a time, it seemed like a perfect fit for the former Pro Bowler, but soon after, former teammate (and often times nemesis) Daniel Sorenson joined the team.

Both players have made the Saints final 53-man roster but not before Mathieu created a little uncertainty with a since-deleted Tweet.

“The only job where youth beats out experience without actually being better.” Mathieu Tweeted. Roughly an hour later, he said this: “HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHA.”

Many believed this could be Mathieu stating that he was informed he would not be making the Saints roster or that he was told he would not be the opening day starter. Mathieu has since removed all references to the Saints on his Twitter page but clarified that his deleted Tweet was in reference to another player being released by the Ravens.

In a previous interview with Peter King, Mathieu seemed very excited to play in New Orleans and stated “This is my last stop, my last challenge. I am just thrilled to be here. When I put the uniform on and play in the Superdome for the first time, I will have to take a moment. Honest. It’ll be so special. Just special.”

We know Tyrann is an emotional guy who wears his heart on his sleeve and sometimes those emotions come out in ways that others can’t understand. Whatever is going on in New Orleans, we certainly wish the Honey Badger the very best.
