In a strange turn of events, current Bears and former Chiefs RB Damien Williams, who will miss his second straight game for Chicago this Sunday as he is on the COVID list, is apparently unvaccinated according to NFL insider Adam Schefter.
Williams helped the Chiefs win Super Bowl LIV, then opted out for the 2020 NFL season due to COVID-19 and the fact that his mother was ill. This was a move that very few questioned at the time as the idea of being able to see his ailing mother seemed legit. Williams was released by the Chiefs in early 2021 but soon signed a free agent deal with the Bears.
It’s certainly not on us to question Williams’ decision to get a vaccine but wouldn’t it seem logical that if he were willing to risk his NFL career for his mother that he might go ahead and get a shot as well? Very strange indeed.
