Following what was likely his best coaching job in 12 years as head coach of the Missouri Tigers, Gary Pinkel has been recognized as the SEC Coach of the Year by his fellow SEC coaches.
The award comes after Pinkel led the Tigers to a 10-2 (7-1) regular season record as well as an appearance in the SEC Championship Game for the second consecutive season. He led his team to an SEC East Championship despite having an offense that struggled mightily for much of the 2014 season and ranked near the bottom of the conference in most statistical categories. It is the second coach of the year award for Pinkel, who was also the 2007 Big 12 coach of the year.
