An anonymous NFL coach made headlines earlier this week when he criticized Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes by saying “I love the kid. But take his first read away and what does he do? He runs, he scrambles and he plays streetball.”
When asked about these comments and whether black quarterbacks in general are judged differently, Mahomes responded with the following by saying “The black quarterback has had a battle to be in the position we are…and I think every day we are proving we should’ve been playing the whole time.”

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was also asked about the comments to which he stated “Just take a peek at [the film], see how many times he hits the second receiver.“
