In a game that was delayed for 2 hours and 5 minutes due to rain, both teams battled through the delay and with both starters gone they combined to use 13 pitchers.
Steve Pearce’s first career Grand Slam in the 1st inning off of Mariner’s starter J.A. Happ put the Orioles’s ahead 4-0 early, but they would give up that lead. Seattle clawed back into it after the delay, down 4-1, Rickie Weeks’ pinch-hit 2-run single in the 4th cut the Orioles’s lead to 4-3. When Darren O’Day walked Logan Morrison with the bases loaded in the 7th, the game was tied. J.J. Hardy broke the 4-4 tie in the 8th inning with a clutch RBI single to score Chris Davis that put the Orioles’s ahead for good. Hardy gave the Orioles’s the lead in the 8th and Zach Britton, the 7th Pitcher used by Baltimore in the game, closes it out for the save in a wet & wild 6 hour game. No Oriole had more than 1 hit and Chris Davis scored 2 runs. Baltimore took 2 out of 3 from Seattle and the Orioles are back on the road as they will play the Marlins in Miami for a 3 game series starting tonight.
