If offense is what you were seeking then the 88th Cotton Bowl Classic was likely not for you as the Missouri Tigers held on to beat Ohio State 14-10. A scoreless first half for the Tigers left a large portion of the sold-out crowd at AT&T Stadium hanging their heads in frustration.
Back-to-back 90-plus yard drives helped vault Missouri ahead of the Buckeyes for good as quarterback Brady Cook shook off a rough first half to put the Tigers in a position to win. A gusty 29 carry, 123 yard performance by Cody Schrader also keyed in the victory. His fourth quarter touchdown put the Tigers up for good and put a stamp on one unforgettable season for Missouri.
Tigers building momentum for 2024 after Cotton Bowl win
This marks Mizzou’s first bowl win since the Tigers beat Minnesota in the 2015 Citrus Bowl and could be a catalyst for major program momentum. A team that had lived in .500 land throughout coach Eli Drinkwitz’s first three years now finishes 11-2 and in the top in in the country.
With players like Cook and WR Luther Burden (along with other key receivers) returning in 2024, Mizzou could find itself being hyped for a playoff run.
