The Chiefs receiving corps has been largely overhauled this offseason. With Demarcus Robinson and Byron Pringle lost to free agency, the Chiefs recently traded Tyreek Hill to the Dolphins for five draft picks. Some may be forgetting the team’s elder statesman: Mecole Hardman.
Hardman had 59 catches for 693 yards and two touchdowns in 2021. Earlier this offseason he Tweeted that he had been unable to excel in Kansas City because he had two stars in Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill ahead of him in the offensive pecking order.
On Sunday, the Twitter account for Pro Football Focus released a graphic touting the Chiefs’ primary weapons. Hardman was not included in the graphic and responded humorously.
For Hardman to be included in next year’s graphic, he will need to emerge as a more viable threat in the passing game which includes better route running and understanding of the nuances of the game. With Hill gone, Hardman should have every chance in the world to succeed.
