As the Chiefs began voluntary workouts on Monday, players and coaches were also barraged with questions by the media. As has been made very public via social media, Patrick Mahomes has been working out privately with various teammates for the past month.

Conspicuous by his absence at these workouts (until recently) is receiver Mecole Hardman, who is entering a pivotal year of his NFL career. About to begin his fourth season in Kansas City, Hardman is most certainly in a “put up or shut up” type of situation as a former second round pick. Hardman pulled no punches when discussing his absence from the aforementioned workouts.

“Definitely blown out of proportion for sure…People have individual lives as well. I can’t be on Pat’s ass all day.”

We sure appreciate the honesty there Mecole but we can assure you that no one expects you to be on our near Pat’s backside all day every day. Could he be using these opportunities to get better every day and get in sync with the best QB in the NFL? That seems fair.

In three years as a Chiefs, Hardman has amassed just 1,791 yards receiving with 12 touchdowns.
