In sports, we frequently hear about athletes having to overcome adversity to excel at the highest level. For Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco, a youth shattered by tragedy would wind up fueling his success on the gridiron in high school in Vineland, NJ then as a standout running back in the Big 10 at Rutgers and finally as a rookie with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Isiah first confronted tragedy back in January of 2016. His brother, Travoise Cannon, was stabbed to death in Bridgeton in January 2016. He was 29. Then on September 20 2017, his sister Celeste was shot and killed. It’s hard to imagine facing one of these horrific situations let alone both.
Pacheco fought through the adversity to become a seventh-round draft pick by the Chiefs which led to an 830 yard, four touchdown rookie season…and a Super Bowl birth.
