A a snowy and blustery night in Kansas City brought more than 1,000 people to Harrahs’ Voodoo Lounge for an unforgettable night of bombastic hard-rock hits.
Armed with an over-the-top production, costume changes and pyro, the ultimate celebration of arena rock known as Hairball delivered an outstanding performance that had the capacity crowd fist-pumping and singing nostalgically along with every lyric throughout the nearly two-hour performance.
Hairball covered a large array of classic acts covering everything from Van Halen to Prince on this night, each song performed with unabashed charisma and precision. The show has certainly evolved over the years and 15 years after their humble beginnings, the band is experiencing a meteoric rise across the world
“The kid inside us is living the dream of being in a rock and roll band that tours the world.” Singer Bobby Jensen said during a recent interview with On the Road to Rock. “We try to provide the vehicle for the fans to go on a time travel to a time where rock n’ roll was explosive and bombastic.”
The evening was made extra special by the return of guitarist Happy, an intrical part of the band’s sound had been sidelined for nearly a year with medical issues. The celebration was as bombastic as ever and Happy’s re-emergence added an extra element of excitement to a KC crowd that have become loyal Hairball fans due to their frequent shows in the area, each one bigger than the last.
