Well…. on the bright side of things @coach_fritz‘s and @catteberry33‘s records will restart at the start of February. Since we only picked for two weeks in January we are going to restart the records and start with a clean slate on the 1st and we will do that again for March. Now, tonight is your typical Friday in college hoops with just a couple key games but it should get us nice and warmed up for the absolutely, amazingly, awesome slate of games tomorrow.
Thursday’s Performance: @coach_fritz: Overall- 2-1 ATS- 0-3
@catteberry33: Overall- 3-0 ATS- 2-1
Overall Performance: @coach_fritz: Overall- 16-12 ATS- 7-19
@catteberry33: Overall- 19-9 ATS- 10-16
1. Kent State (15-5, 6-1 MAC) at Buffalo (13-6, 4-3 MAC) Favorite: Buffalo -6.0
There may not be a team playing tonight that needs a win worse than Buffalo. The Bulls are only one game above .500 in the conference and are trying to keep pace with the Golden Flashes. Beating them head-to-head would help tremendously. The player to watch for Buffalo is Justin Moss. Some of you may have heard the name as @coach_fritz had him on the SOTN list just two days ago. The junior F has made long strides from last year and has been a stat sheet stuffer this year averaging nearly a double-double a game. For Kent State, sophomore F Jimmy Hall is the guy to watch. He is another stat sheet stuffer that should create a great match-up for Moss. Kent State is a purely defensive team and will need to keep Buffalo under 60 as they’ve done to most teams this year.
@coach_fritz: Buffalo (Win)- Kent State will keep it close but will not have an answer for Justin Moss. The guy was on SOTN for a reason. Buffalo wins by five.
@catteberry33: Kent State (Win)- The Golden Flashes have been on a roll lately and I think it continues tonight. Someone needs to at least slow down Justin Moss though.
2. Oregon State (14-6, 5-3 Pac-12) at #6 Arizona (19-2, 7-1 Pac-12) Favorite: Arizona -17.0
There is one reason and one reason only as to why this is a key match-up. Oregon State beat Arizona in Corvallis by two points. With this being said, I shouldn’t have to tell you that beating the Wildcats in Tuscon is a near impossible task. Arizona will go for their 34th consecutive home win tonight. The player to watch for them tonight is actually not Stanley Johnson. You need to keep an eye on T.J. McConnell. McConnell has played well lately and he led all scorers in the last match-up. For the Beavers, watch Gary Payton II. The Astronaut (Gary Payton I) has obviously taught his son well as he is the leading scorer and rebounder for Oregon State. The McKale Center should be pretty raucous for this one.
@coach_fritz: Arizona (Win & Cover)- Arizona is playing really well right now and will be out for blood tonight to avenge the loss.
@catteberry33: Arizona (Win & Cover)- I picked them earlier in the week to cover a big spread and they delivered. I’ll roll the dice on them again as they will want revenge.
