Tonight is a decent night of college hoops. There’s a few great match ups and your remote should be busy. Keep in mind that the rankings next to each team are AP rankings that you will see on your TV, not the GASN rankings.
1. #25 Iowa (13-5, 4-1 Big Ten) at #6 Wisconsin (16-2, 4-1 Big Ten)
In the lone ranked matchup of the night, the Badgers look for their fourth straight win over the Hawkeyes. Kaminsky has returned but Traevon Jackson will sit out another one. Bronson Koenig has played well in the place of Jackson and adds some range for the Wisconsin offense. Iowa will counter with an athletic front line. 7’1” center Adam Woodbury can run in transition and may be able to match-up decently with Kaminsky.
@coach_fritz: Wisconsin- I’ll take Kaminsky to dominate the game. I think Wisconsin will also cover the 8 point spread.
@catteberry33: Wisconsin- If it wasn’t in the Kohl Center I may have picked differently. I think Iowa covers the spread though.
2. #22 Dayton (15-2, 5-0 A-10) at Davidson (12-4, 3-2 A-10)
Davidson may be the most battle-tested team in the Atlantic 10. Three of their four losses have came against ranked opponents (Virg, VCU, UNC). They are one of the highest scoring teams in the country (82.4 ppg) and when left unguarded they will hit from everywhere. Archie Miller has his team playing well again after an Elite Eight run last year. This Dayton team is small with only two guys over 6’6” getting significant minutes. However, they’re one of the best defensive teams in the country.
@coach_fritz: Dayton- Dayton will win the game outright. Jordan Sibert will have a big night. This is a great money line bet, since they are the underdog, according to Vegas.
@catteberry33: Davidson- Davidson can score points in a hurry. I will take them to win, as the favorite.
3. Kansas State (11-7, 4-1 Big 12) at #9 Iowa State (13-3, 3-1 Big 12)
Iowa State looks to avoid the common letdown after coming off of an emotional win over Kansas. Georges Niang has been impressive this year and Naz Long has shot lights out. Kansas State will counter with Marcus Foster who has been less than stellar this year. Foster has hit the sophomore slump but Nino Williams has helped pick up the slack some. Kansas State is better defensively this year but this will be their toughest test of the year against the Big 12’s best offense.
@coach_fritz: Iowa State- Kansas State will keep it close and cover the +10.5 point spread. However, Niang will be too much for the Wildcats.
@catteberry33: Iowa State- Iowa State has been great recently, but will not cover the spread. It’s hard to do after coming off a big win. However, Naz Long is going to have a great night tonight.
4. Vanderbilt (11-6, 1-3 SEC) at #1 Kentucky (17-0, 4-0 SEC)
Kentucky is obviously good. There is no doubt about that. They are long, big, and play the best defense the NCAA has seen the last 15 years. They needed OT to get their first two conference wins but have won their last two by a combined 71 points. Vanderbilt has struggled this year. They are a young team that is still trying to gain experience. They shoot the ball well and will need to do that to stay with the Wildcats. This is a big rivalry so both teams may play with a lot of emotion tonight.
@coach_fritz: Kentucky- I am tempted to pick Vanderbilt to cover the +22.5 point spread. However, Kentucky has too much size and length for Vanderbilt.
@catteberry33: Kentucky- I also will take Kentucky to cover the spread. Vanderbilt’s shooting will keep them in it for a little while but Kentucky will pull away in the second half and get a late cover.
Other SEC Games:
LSU (13-4, 2-2 SEC) at Florida (10-7, 3-1 SEC)
Ole Miss (11-6, 2-2 SEC) at Georgia 11-5, 2-2 SEC)
