The days go by and former Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu remains on the market. While the Chiefs were unable to ink an extension with the Pro Bowler this offseason, Mathieu has yet to find a landing spot that meets his financial needs. Chiefs GM Brett Veach met with the media on Friday to discuss next week’s NFL Draft and several goings on within the organization.

Veach spoke of “keeping the door open” with regards to re-signing Mathieu this offseason.

“Our expectation was this was a long shot,” Chiefs GM Brett Veach stated about getting something done with Tyrann Mathieu before the start of free agency.

Veach went on to say that the Chiefs organization loves “the player and person” with regards to Mathieu. It’s clear that talks of an extension were not occurring as the 2021 season went on and The Honey Badger’s tweets began to reflect frustration on his part. Tyrann has drawn interest from many teams in recent weeks including the Eagles and Saints but has yet to sign a deal.
