As the Chiefs look to pick up the pieces following their Super Bowl LV loss to Tampa Bay, the wide receiver position will be front and center.

With Sammy Watkins, Byron Pringle and Demarcus Robinson all entering free agency, the Chiefs will have to find potential replacements. Though Watkins could be re-signed, he can’t be counted on consistently to produce. Former second round pick Mecole Hardman has not developed to the level that many hoped, leaving a major hole at the receiver position.

5 free agents the Chiefs could target at the receiver position

Marvin Jones Jr. Jones is a very productive player that likely won’t come with a salary cap-busting price tag. The 31 year old Jones had nearly 1,000 yards receiving last year and added nine touchdowns. This could be a perfect fit as this would add a veteran and reliable presence to replace Watkins.

A.J. Green. Yes, Green is 33 and his best days are behind him but he would add a much different dimension to the Chiefs offense. Green has played on terrible Bengals teams his whole career and could be looking to latch on to a team like KC in search of a ring.

Breshad Perriman. This is a journeyman that has already played for four teams in his five year NFL career. He’s someone you can get your hands on at an affordable rate and could be an immediate upgrade over a Demarcus Robinson/Byron Pringle. You’d probably want to dip into the draft for a player as well should the Chiefs go this route.

Keelan Cole. Keelan was a very steady player throughout his four years in Jacksonville. At 28, he’s not likely to demand a gigantic contract but he’s going to be a very solid contributor wherever he goes. The good news is, his five touchdowns in 2020 were a career high and he could really thrive in the right situation.

Corey Davis. This could be a bit of a pipe dream as Davis, 26 just set career highs in yards, receptions and TD’s in 2020. Can the Titans afford to keep both he and A.J. Brown? Very unlikely. The Chiefs pulled a rabbit out of a hat to sign Sammy Watkins back in 2018 so perhaps Brett Veach can pull off a similar miracle here.
