The University of Kansas will be in search of its third head coach since 2009 as Charlie Weis has been fired just four games in to the 2014 season.
Weis was a disastrous 6-22 as head coach of the Jayhawks and athletic director Sheahon Zenger has admitted he was wrong about Weis being the right guy to help Kansas raise the bar in the Big 12. “I normally do not favor changing coaches mid-season,” Zenger said in the school’s pres release. “But I believe we have talented coaches and players in this program, and I think this decision gives our players the best chance to begin making progress right away.”
According to sources, Weis has been relieved of his duties effective immediately and KU defensive coordinator Clint Bowen will take over as the interim head coach for the rest of the 2014 season.
