There’s a new NFL kickoff rule that has, thus far, been universally maligned by fans, players and coaches. To help eliminate injuries that occur during kickoffs, the NFL has put into effect a rule that states a kick returner can call fair catch anywhere behind the 25 yard line and the ball will automatically placed at the 25. Players like Tommy Townsend have already voiced displeasure over this rule and today Andy Reid was asked about it after OTA’s. Reid made no bones about his disapproval of the rule, comparing it to “playing flag football” when he spoke with the media after Wednesday’s media session.
