Mizzou fans have been hit with a plethora of good news on the basketball front for the better part of the past month. Not to be outdone, football recruiting started heating up this week as well, as Mizzou landed two key players.

Wednesday afternoon, Missouri’s top quarterback target for the 2018 class, James Foster II announced his decision to commit to the Tigers via his Twitter account.

Foster, who hails from Montgomery, AL is rated a 3 star prospect by Rivals and is rated the 12th best quarterback prospect in the 2018 class. He chose Mizzou after garnishing interest from SEC programs such as Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina.

The Tigers were also able to bolster its 2017 recruiting class by adding defensive tackle Akial Byers, a 6’4 260 pound former Alabama commit. Byers, reportedly, was in danger of not qualifying out of high school and was likely headed the JUCO route before flipping late in the game to Mizzou.

Byers, who is rated as a 3-star prospect by Rivals, originally chose Alabama over offers from Ohio State, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Oklahoma.

The pair of commitments most certainly came at a good time for Missouri as they previously only had one player committed in the 2018 class (JUCO WR Harry Ballard) and it’s likely you will start to see more dominoes fall as the 2017 season nears.
