Starting Miami Dolphins’ center, Mike Pouncey, will not play Sunday afternoon vs. the
Kansas City Chiefs despite fully participating in practice on Tuesday-the first time since his offseason hip surgery. The 25-year-old center/guard was awarded for his excellent offensive line play with his first Pro-Bowl in 2013. When asked about playing Sunday Pouncey replied “I feel like I could play but it’s not my decision”. With the decision falling in Joe Philbin’s hands, he has decided to take the safe route and rest Pouncey against the Chiefs.
The Chiefs, particularly NT Dontari Poe, have to be happy to hear this. He will face Samson Satele instead, an experienced vet but nowhere near Pouncey’s high level of play. With K.C. defensive lineman Mike Devito out for the season, as well as Derrick Johnson, they will take any advantage they can.
Besides Mike Pouncey the Dolphins also have an injured LB Koa Misi and TE Charles Clay, with Misi looking to start
practice at the end of the week and play on Sunday. Charles Clay has already been ruled out. Kansas City will be without Pro-Bowlers RB Jamaal Charles and S Eric Berry, who both suffered high ankle sprains vs. the Denver Broncos, will not return to action in Sunday’s action. Rookie 4th round pick, RB/WR/Return specialist De’Anthony Thomas will appear in his first regular season contest with the Chiefs.
