Reasons for Hope

This is Barry Odom’s first full recruiting cycle at Missouri. The team is coming off of a disappointing 4-8 season so he didn’t have a whole lot to sell. He was able to address depth issues along both lines and, despite losing a couple impact receivers late, managed to bring in one of the top prospects in the state of Missouri in Da’Ron Davis. If the Tigers can return to bowl eligibility in 2017, it should open the door for a much better class in 2018.

Causes for Concern

You can’t win consistently in the SEC with classes ranked 48th in the country. Sure, you can find some solid players in these type of classes but you have to be able to build on this and achieve success on the field to avoid becoming the next Vanderbilt of the SEC. The program itself has lost all momentum from back-to-back SEC East titles in 2013 and 2014 and it’s up to Barry Odom to try to get Mizzou back to its winning ways despite a couple so-so recruiting classes.
